There is no equity without quality and no quality without equity. Without the integration of quality standards to health equity, health disparities continue to go unidentified and thus ultimately unaddressed. This webinar will outline how health equity and quality intersect in health care delivery, and how to center an equity lens to provide high-quality care to all patients.

Joy A. Lewis, MSW, MPH, is SVP of Health Equity Strategies and Executive Director, Institute for Diversity and Health Equity at the American Hospital Association (AHA). In her dual roles, Joy has broad oversight for several key association priorities and functions related to diversity, health equity and inclusion to support and build healthy communities. She also serves as a member of the executive management team of the AHA. Late 2018, Joy began at the AHA as VP, strategic policy planning where she led the Association’s efforts to identify long-term public policy issues. Before joining the AHA, Joy held several positions over almost two decades at Kaiser Permanente; her last role was senior health policy leader at the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy. Joy holds dual master’s degrees in social work from Howard University and public health from the University of California - Los Angeles.
